Four years ago, the COVID-19 pandemic sent many Chicago office workers home to install Zoom and invest in ring lights. Since then, some companies have remained fully remote or hybrid. If you’re shopping for a co-working space, check these out.

Best Downtown Spot: Carr Workplaces

Located on the 51st floor of the AON Center, this space will let you take in views of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier while meeting your deadlines. Plus, you’ll find various restaurants on the bottom floor.

Best for 24/7 Access: Platform Coworking

Steps from the Montrose Brown Line and Ravenswood Metra, this North Side space has secured entry for workers who want to work outside of the usual 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Best for Community: Guild Row

Voted the Reader’s best co-working space three years in a row, the Avondale spot also has a kitchen and patio for professionals to connect. City Caster Caroline Patton joined Guild Row as a member and is impressed by their evening and weekend events.

Best for Plant Lovers: Hatch 41

If you want to feel like you are working in a garden, this Bronzeville co-working space is decked out with 3,000 plants. Members can pick a desk, book a conference room, and enjoy complimentary coffee and tea. Hatch 41 also prioritizes bringing in members from the neighborhood.

Best for Squeezing in a Workout: Brooklyn Boulders

Mix up your workday with some exercise at the West Loop climbing gym. Also worth noting: This co-working space has printers, scanners, and other office supplies.
