The Bean is closed until spring 2024, which means Chicagoans need to find other sites to take out-of-town visitors this holiday season. That’s why the City Cast Chicago team rounded up alternative tourist attractions.

Enjoy the city from the water without getting wet on architecture tours, sunset cruises, and more.

Most Instagram-Worthy Spot: Museum Campus

Snap a great view of the skyline from the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, or Adler Planetarium. It’s perfect for a holiday card photo, too!

Best for Foodies: Pequod’s in Lincoln Park

If your tourist thinks their trip isn’t complete without deep-dish, take them to the North Side spot for the $8 lunch special. (If they want tavern-style, Vito & Nick’s in Ashburn has been feeding South Siders for decades.)

Best for Nature Lovers: Garfield Park Conservatory

Plant enthusiasts will geek out over one of the largest conservatories in the country with its many plant species and rotating flower shows. The West Side spot is a great backdrop to catch up or for some quiet time.

The museum’s Mexican art collection includes the ongoing Day of the Dead and Carlós Cortez exhibits.

Best for Drinks With a View: Cindy’s in the Loop

Sip on cocktails and mocktails from the Chicago Athletic Association’s rooftop restaurant and bar overlooking Millennium Park, where you can get a glimpse of the Bean from above.

Best for Movement: The Rink in Avalon Park

Roller skate the night away, and you’ll quickly see why skating in Chicago is the best.
