Are you a Chicago parent on the hunt for places to visit with your kids this summer? Consider Elmhurst. Resident Ann Quinn Kelly is the interim director of the Elmhurst Art Museum and shares go-to spots in the west suburb.
Something to Eat
Once a railroad suburb, Elmhurst has plenty of eating and drinking establishments next to the Metra station. Modern Plate has a great entertainment space, and Guac N Tacos is perfect for dining in or takeout.
Something to See
Fans of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” might be interested in an Elmhurst Art Museum exhibit on “Donkey Hodie,” the Emmy–nominated show set in the same universe. The museum sits in Wilder Park, which has walking paths and a playground. For quiet contemplation, visit the garden at the Wilder Park Conservatory on the south end of the park.
Something to Do
The Illinois Prairie Path is fantastic for walks and bike rides. The Umbrella Sky installation is a fun Instagram moment.
