As Chicagoans prepare to celebrate 420 this weekend, we’re rounding up events to attend, treats to eat, and more.
First, Hit the Dispensary
In the four years since Illinois legalized recreational marijuana, a slow and messy rollout of licenses has delayed some dispensaries opening. Here’s a map of dispensaries across the city (including which ones are owned by people of color).
Celebrations Galore
- Kick off celebrations at a Hillside infused cocktail class Friday at 5 p.m. or Saturday at noon.
- Join a puff and paint in Bronzeville Saturday at 11 a.m. or 8 p.m.
- Start the morning at the Green Rose Dispensary’s day fest in River North Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- A West Side party is BYOW Saturday from 2–7 p.m. Buy your ticket for $4.20 or $20 at the door.
- Attend a North Center sketch comedy show created in less than 24 hours by a few stoned writers and (some) sober actors and directors Saturday at 10 p.m.

Cannabis-Infused Foods
- Usually asking for CBD add-ons costs a couple of bucks at Wake ‘n Bacon. But the Lakeview restaurant is offering complimentary infusions to up to 420 customers Saturday.
- Check out Mindy’s Edibles, created by the same chef behind Mindy’s Bakery.
- Keep your eyes peeled for an Herbal Notes pop-up experience.
The Best Munchies (According to City Cast Chicago)
- Executive producer Simone Alicea: “I’m all about the dumplings: Furama in Uptown serves dim sum all day.”
- Producer Michelle Navarro: “A steak torta from Chile Toreado in McKinley Park or a burger from Redhot Ranch in Bucktown.”
- Podcast host Jacoby Cochran: “Chi Cafe in Chinatown, Royal Caribbean Jerk in Greater Grand Crossing, or Kilwins in Hyde Park.”
